Record increase in sales for Wrigley
Chicago, Illinois: The Wrigley Company has reported a 23.7% increase in half-year net profit to $312m (£154m) on sales up 15.3% at $2.63bn (£1.3bn). Second-quarter sales rose 14% - a record for the company - Wrigley said. Sales in its European division rose 23% to $667m (£328m) during the second-quarter, driven by the UK, where the company recorded its best first-half performance in three years. "Our strong first-half performance and our ongoing focus on operational efficiency puts us in an excellent position to make the necessary investments in second-half initiatives," said president and CEO Bill Perez.
