V8 and soup boost Campbell results

Camden, New Jersey: Campbell Soup Co has reported a 30.7% rise in third-quarter net profits to $217m (£110m) on sales up 8% at $1.87bn (£948m). The group reported growth across its portfolio with "extraordinary" results in its US beverages business thanks to V8 vegetable juice. Its US soup arm had also performed well, with lower-sodium soups "exceeding expectations in terms of consumer trials", according to president and CEO Douglas Conant.
