Whole Foods Market due in court
Austin, Texas: Whole Foods Market, which opened its first UK store in London last week, will appear in court later this month to defend its $565m (£287m) acquisition of US grocery chain Wild Oats Market. The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has claimed the merger would restrict competition. A preliminary injunction hearing will decide whether to approve the FTC's application for an injunction to block the proposed merger. "Whole Foods Market and Wild Oats Markets plan to cooperate to challenge the FTC's opposition to the merger," the retailers said in a joint statement.
