Nestlé is putting novelty NPD at the top of the tree this Christmas with launches under its Yorkie and Aero brands.

A chocolate Aero Christmas Tree filled with bubbly peppermint (rsp: 65p) and a Monster Truck made with Yorkie milk chocolate (rsp: £4.99) join its festive line-up this year. The new lines are designed to tap the trend for novelty products, a market that grew 10% by value y-o-y last Christmas [SymphonyIRI 20w/e 1 January 2011]. The company is also launching a Rowntree's Randoms gift carton (rsp: £4.09).

After Eight and Matchmakers will get festive on-pack promotions and a Quality Street 75th anniversary promotion will offer prizes for 75 days.l Fairtrade brand Divine Chocolate is launching two Christmas gift boxes in September, one with dark chocolates containing raspberry pieces and another with mint-flavoured dark chocolates (rsp: £4.50/100g)
