This year marks the 20th anniversary of the launch of the Retail Cheese Awards by Dairy Crest and The Grocer.
This year's competition is set to be better than ever. There are thousands of pounds to be won and finalists are invited to an awards lunch at the Café Royal in London, where the national winners will be unveiled.
The industry, and the awards, have come a long way since 1986, when our first winner, Arthur Axon, was unveiled.
But the purpose of the awards is the same today as it was back then: to promote and recognise true professionalism in sales through deli-style counters. Our expert judges will look for counters that offer eye-catching appeal and knowledgeable, helpful staff.
There are two categories: for best specialist independent and for best multiple, co-op or symbol group store. In each category the judges will identify three regional winners, from which our two national winners will be selected.
Regional winners receive cheques for £500 and the national champions each receive £2,500.
