Household products supplier Jeyes has appointed Bernard Daymon as group CEO after a search of more than a year.

He joins from US cleaning product manufacturer Diversey, where he spent eight years, most recently as vice president for the European division.

Over the course of the previous 11 years, the Frenchman held positions in Unilever's home and personal care business in France, Greece and the US. His roles included chief financial office for Unilever in North America and director of finance in Greece.

Daymon said his priority as CEO of Jeyes was to visit the company's manufacturing sites in East Kilbride, Mold, Wolverhampton and Preston to see operations first hand and meet employees.

"I am looking forward to really getting to know our staff and leading the company towards further growth," he said.

On his LinkedIn profile, he describes his specialities as leading change, turnaround and restructuring, productivity improvement and growth acceleration.

"Jeyes has a superb reputation around the world for producing great and innovative products," he said.

Jeyes chairman Roger Burdett is relinquishing the executive responsibilities he has held for two years since CEO Mike Colley left the business. "Bernard has a passion for driving business results by understanding consumer needs, building talent and tuning business models," said Burdett.

Jeyes markets, sells and distributes a range of cleaning products, including the Easy laundry, bleach and dishwash brand, to more than 60 countries.

The £220m company, which owns the Bloo and Parozone brands, has been private equity-owned since being acquired from IWP in a management buyout in 2002.

Last year, the Bloo toilet cleaner range underwent a £3m relaunch, which included the introduction of limited-edition fragrances that change with each season. Sales of Bloo have since increased 40% year-on-year, according to the company.
