Imperial Tobacco has restructured its management team to create three new channel head positions.

Cameron Miles has been appointed head of grocery, Mike Laney has been made head of convenience, while Patrick Toms has been named head of distributive and vending channel.

The changes would ensure Imperial had the knowledge, skills and experience for each channel, said head of sales Martin Goodall. They come just days after Imperial launched a cigarette-making kit under its JPS brand, which was launched into grocery on 1 April and will hit c-stores in September.

The product is being launched in the multiples to give the brand time to establish itself ahead of the tobacco display ban, which comes into force next year. The ban doesn't hit smaller stores until 2015.

"The mults remain vitally important to the UK tobacco market," said Miles.
