Potato supplier Branston has launched the first potato brand in Tesco under The Real Potato Co banner.
Branston will initially supply two exclusive new varieties - Bellini and Piccolo - to 250 Tesco stores, with hopes of a wider rollout in the future.
Bellini, which is grown in the UK, Spain, Italy and Israel and described as ideal for all cooking methods, and Piccolo, a salad potato with an oval shape and smooth golden skin and flesh, will be pitched against Albert Bartlett brand Rooster, which is set to be relisted in Tesco shortly.
The Real Potato Co hopes to launch other varieties into other retailers.
