2 Despite the massive size of this store, our shopper found it easy to navigate because the aisles were wide and the overhead signage was bold. Staff were helpful and guided him to several items, although the organic strawberry jam and Anadin were out of stock. The checkout operator was polite and replaced the eggs because she noticed one of them had been broken. Of the 25 checkouts, 22 were open, which was necessary because the store was busy.

morrisons Aberdeen

1 Our Aberdeen shopper found it difficult to find the biscuits as different varieties were stocked across different areas of the store. A few of the promotion shelves were empty but staff were friendly and did their best to help. Availability was sound, although the Yeo Valley yoghurt was sold out and the frozen fruits of the forest and Heinz tomato soup were not stocked. The checkout operator was grumpy and incorrectly charged our shopper on two items.

sainsbury's Aylesbury

1 This small town-centre Sainsbury's was clean and tidy and although there were a few packing trolleys in the aisles, they didn't cause any congestion as there were few shoppers present. The Bacardi Breezers were sold out and the Batchelors Super Noodles, Optivita, frozen fruits and required size of eggs were not stocked. The overhead signage was clear and there were a large number of bogofs. Six of the 10 checkouts were open, which was sufficient.

tesco Wath, South Yorkshire

0 The aisles of this huge Tesco Extra were packed with shoppers but staff were plentiful and interacted cheerfully with shoppers. The standard of cleanliness was excellent throughout the store and there were no packing trolleys blocking the aisles. The shelves were free of gaps although loose tomatoes were only available on the vine and single cans of plum tomatoes were not stocked. Checkout queues were processed quickly and 25 of the 27 tills were open.

waitrose Twickenham

2 The Kingsmill loaf and frozen fruit were both out of stock at this bright Waitrose branch, but staff checked the stockroom to be sure. The required variety of Pedigree dogfood was not stocked. The store was very clean and the fruit and vegetables and bakery sections were filled with fresh-looking stock. It was easy to navigate around the store and six of the 12 checkouts were operating, which was sufficient as there were only a few shoppers in the store.
