Boots will flesh out its food offer next month with the launch of its new own-brand Nutritious range, featuring more than 30 products.

The health and beauty retailer said the range was “packed full of nutrient-rich ingredients and fibre,” and each product contained at least one of the recommended five-a-day portions of fruit and vegetables.

Products in the range include Santa Fe chicken Salad, for £3, and Beetroot & Carrot juice for £1.95.

The Nutritious Meal Deal, costing £3.79 in London and airport stores but £3.29 elsewhere, comprises a main meal such as a sandwich, salad or a wrap, one side such as fruit salad or vegetable sticks and dip, and a drink - similar to the meal deal available across the Shapers and Delicious ranges.

The company said all the Nutritious main meals, snacks and juices were capped at fewer than 450 calories, and offered green and amber lights only on the nutrition labelling panel.

The announcement comes six months after Boots ditched its trial of evening meals under its Shapers healthy eating brand in 100 stores.
