McVitie’s has axed its Temptations indulgent bite-sized biscuits after just over a year on shelf.

When it rolled out the range last March, brand owner United Biscuits said it was looking to tap into the growing market for special treats, but has struggled to find an audience.

The brand - available in three flavours - milk Chocolate & Hazelnut, White Chocolate & Truffle and Milk Chocolate & Praline (all rsp: £1.99) - disappeared from Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Asda early this year, and lost its Tesco listing last month.

UB confirmed it had ceased production of the range and discontinued all lines, adding that it had no other plans for the Temptations brand.
