Greencore has moved a step closer to sealing its £113m deal for Uniq after shareholders voted overwhelmingly in favour of the deal.

As of 1pm on 30 August, Greencore announced it had received acceptances in respect of 115,001,506 Uniq Shares - 98.13 per cent of the company’s issued share capital.

Earlier this month, Greencore shareholders voted in favour of its plans to acquire Uniq and the issue of new shares to fund the deal.

The deal offer will remain open for acceptances until further notice and at least 14 days notice will be given by announcement before it is closed.

Last week Uniq announced it would be exiting its loss-making everyday desserts business following a strategic review of the division.
