In the retailer chart Morrisons continues at the top, most noticeably strong on soft drink promotions with a number of buy one get one free offers.
Tesco, Sainsbury and Safeway all move up by one place to positions two, three and four respectively. There are just two percentage points separating positions three and five. Tesco is heavily focused on multibuy offers featuring on gondola ends along with the ever-present bogof offers.
Walkers shoots up the brand chart from number 10 to take the top spot while the remainder is dominated by new entries, of which there are six. Beck's and Stella Artois come in at numbers three and four with price promotions supporting the alcoholic drinks category. Colgate, Elmlea and Sunsilk, which are new entries, feature buy one get one free promotions.
In the category chart soft drinks remains at number one. However, it stands less than one percentage point ahead of health and beauty at number two. Soft drinks is supported by a wide range of promotions on brands such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Schweppes, Fanta and Tango. Gondola ends are widely used and supplemented with a number of floor stacks. Alcoholic drinks at number three and snacks at number five are both new entries. The position of snacks in the chart is largely due to the success of Walkers this week, although alcoholic drinks is supported by a wide range of brands featuring a number of promotions most particularly on beers and lagers.
In the own label brand chart frozen moves up one place to take the top spot while soft drinks comes in as a new entry in second place. Cakes and biscuits, chilled and world cuisine all move down the chart this week.
