Energy management specialist Matrix – which remotely controls the lighting, heating and air conditioning for Tesco and Marks & Spencer stores – has moved to new premises in Glasgow as part of a £1m expansion.

The company has moved to a new 4,200 sq ft centre in the city, with the switch set to create new 30 jobs in the next 12 months.

The new premises will now manage more than 30,000 retail and commercial property assets throughout the UK, with hundreds of Tesco and M&S stores connected to Matrix’s Glasgow control room.

Matrix specialises in optimising business owners’ energy usage to reduce costs.

“There has been an increase in demand for remote active energy management services as organisations realise that it can help them significantly reduce their energy use and maintenance support costs,” said Matrix director Steven Daniels.

“Large organisations accept that it’s impossible to effectively control the lighting, heating and air conditioning in every one of their buildings, but linking up with us means we can determine the optimum levels of energy clients need over a 24-hour period.”
