Oh dear. You know the silly season has started in earnest when the Financial Times runs a story about how the popularity of flip-flops has led to a surge in the sale of plasters at Sainsbury. We kid you not. Such a story appeared in the pink 'un this week under the heading Plaster sales are no flop'. Sales of skin coloured plasters jumped 30% in the past 14 weeks. "Once the hot weather hit, sales went through the roof," the chain's Peter Hebblethwaite told the newspaper. Peter, by the way, is the supermarket chain's plaster buyer (Yes - they have a plaster buyer). The Financial Times describes itself as "the leading international business newspaper providing readers with the best source of global business information, comment and analysis".
