The English Beef and Lamb Executive is awaiting clearance from the EU to run a new consumer advertising campaign.
The drive will be funded by part of the £8m promised to the beef industry two weeks ago by Defra parliamentary secretary for sustainable farming and food, Lord Bach.
Details of the proposed campaign were unavailable, but it will feature the
Beefy and Lamby characters used in previous Eblex advertising.
Meanwhile, an Eblex delegation headed by chief executive Richard Ali left this week for a 10-day tour of farms and factories in Brazil. Before he left, Ali told The Grocer: “We want to get a feeling for where the Brazilians are going in terms of strategic position and where they see world beef trends heading.
“Everyone’s talking about the industry there and we want to see it for ourselves.”
