Filippo Berio is pouring its Extra Virgin Olive Oil into a traditional-style one-litre tin to target Christmas shoppers.

The tin retails for £6.99 £1 more than the glass equivalent but would "appeal to consumers looking to spend a bit more on aesthetics", said Walter Zanré, head of Filippo Berio's UK operation.

The format rolls out this week and will only be available in Sainsbury's due to limited production capability in Italy, although strong sales could see it offered in other retailers later, said the company.
