Bacillus Cereus, food poisoning bug

Scientists have found a new way to detect a food poisoning bug that is on the rise across Europe.

The Bacillus cereus bacteria releases toxins that cause diarrhoea, vomiting and, in extreme cases, death. It has been linked to a number of food poisoning outbreaks across Europe.

Researchers from the Technische Universität München and University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna are the first to develop a detection method for the toxins.
