British charcuterie brand The Bath Pig is making its debut in the fresh sausage category.

The brand - which uses only free-range British pork - launched in 2009 and is currently used only on chorizo and salami lines.

But later this month, brand owner the British Premium Sausage Company will launch a three-strong range of premium fresh pork sausages, comprising The Bath Banger - a traditional recipe sausage - a Chilli Jam variant, and a Pork-a-Leekie sausage, which is gluten free.

The three flavours will go into 37 Asda stores in the South West on Monday (8 April) at an introductory price of £2.50 for a pack of six.

All pork in the sausages is outdoor-bred and sourced from Freedom Food-approved UK farms.

The Bath Pig is the latest in a wave of new brands to target the premium fresh sausage sector. Debbie & Andrew Keeble, who founded Debbie & Andrew’s sausages, are gearing up to launch their new premium brand of sausages, Heck, after failing to buy back Debbie & Andrew’s from Vion.

Olive oil-based Olive Hill sausages will also go into Asda this month.
