Tesco has launched boxed potatoes under its Finest range in a bid to offer shoppers a premium roasting potato for Christmas.

Mayan Gold potatoes - which went into Tesco stores on Friday - are sold in a 2kg box and are priced at £3.

The potatoes have a smooth texture, buttery flavour and a thin, golden skin that crisps up well when roasted, according to supplier Greenvale AP.

“I would say that Mayan Gold is perfect roasting potato,” said Greenvale technical director Paul Coleman.
