Label-free halal 

The welfare labelling system of Whole Foods Market hasn't stopped it selling halal meat in its new Kensington store. Most packs of meat have a welfare standard from one to five, but halal meat doesn't qualify because of the slaughter technique, and is label-free. 

MSC accreditation 

The Norwegian Seafood Federation says it is keen to secure MSC accreditation for its mackerel and herring fisheries, following a similar announcement by Scotland's fishermen in April. 

Trans-fats removed 

Members of the Scottish Shellfish Marketing Group have taken trans-fats out of its ready meal lines, which are supplied to Waitrose, Tesco and Morrisons.
