Innocent Drinks has secured a £32m loan from Bank of Scotland to fund continued expansion in Continental Europe.

The company, set up in 1998 by Richard Reed, Adam Balon and Jon Wright, is now in six countries outside the UK and Ireland - including France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark and Sweden. Last month, it entered Austria.

In each of the past three years, Innocent's turnover has doubled in size and now stands at £115m.

"Its growth in recent years to become the dominant force in the UK's competitive smoothie market should be an inspiration to other budding entrepreneurs," said Tim Pryor, head of corporate banking at the Bank of Scotland.
