Kavli is upping the ante in its battle with rival Kraft in the lunchbox arena.

The cheese spread manufacturer, which owns the Primula cream cheese brand, is launching a Scooby-Doo branded lunchbox. Set to do battle with Kraft’s range of Dairylea Lunchables, Kavli said the new offering would “add greater choice” to the growing children’s snack market.

Kavli’s £1.59 newcomer contains only Scooby-Doo branded products. Squeezy Snacks are a Primula mini cheese tube with monster faced biscuits, while Scooby Snack Hot Dog flavour potato snacks and a Tropical Juice drink complete the pack.

Kavli said the current Scooby-Doo Squeezy Snacks already had a loyal following among kids.

The company plans to back the lunchbox launch with an on-pack promotion to win one of 50 free videos or DVDs of the cartoon canine’s latest adventure, Scooby-Doo! And The Monster of Mexico. A money-off coupon for the lunchbox is also being distributed with sales of the film.

Listings have so far been confirmed with Nisa, Spar and Londis.
