Loch Fyne Oysters has secured its first southern foothold with the purchase of Simson's Fisheries.

The company, which funded the 100% share-purchase acquisition with a package from Bank of Scotland Corporate, plans to become more active, accessible and visible in England.

It said there would be no redundancies following the purchase, and Tim Lucas and Richard Organ would remain at the helm of Simson's.

"We want them to be incremental to our operations," said managing director of Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd, Bruce Davidson.

Loch Fyne currently supplies high-end delis and retailers such as Selfridges. It has no plans to break into fish counters at multiples, preferring instead to concentrate on its core business of artisan foods, supplying the likes of Loch Fyne Restaurants.
