The board will assess JLP’s food and fashion products

The John Lewis Partnership has introduced a “black partner advisory group” which will review its products to ensure they are inclusive and representative of customers.

The group is to assess JLP’s current lines including its food and fashion ranges.

It’s one of a series of steps intended to build a more inclusive company. The retailer has also implemented a mentoring scheme through which black staff members will provide guidance on inclusivity to 176 of the company’s leaders.

JLP told The Grocer diversity was one of the “priority areas” for its new executive director of people, Nikki Humphrey, who joined the business last week.

“Over the coming months, we’ll work with partners from all under-represented groups as we create a new diversity and inclusion strategy and set associated targets, to deliver on our commitment to build a truly inclusive business for our partners, customers, suppliers and the wider community,” the retailer said.
