Soleco, the French owned prepared salad group which packs under the Florette brand, has purchased Vega Mayor, Spain's leading supplier. Its European expansion programme would facilitate the procurement of raw material, said director-general Louis Marie Le Coutour, and allow Soleco to expand into southern Europe, establishing it as the unchallenged leader. Spain's 13,000 tonne production capacity is double that of the UK plant which it set up in Litchfield three years ago. Florette UK is partially sourced by UK salad growers with increased opportunities for vegetable producers as complementary lines develop. {{M/E FRESH PRODUCE }}
