Focusing on the health, beauty & baby category, the Promotrack team has looked at the activity since 29 July up to now (the past five weeks).

The category has shown consistent promotional activity throughout this period, being in the top five for three weeks, and moving down just one place to sixth overall in the branded category chart for the past two weeks.

The top five brands in health, beauty & baby category this week are: Carex, Huggies, Imperial Leather, J&J and Palmolive.

Carex's Handwash was on promotion in three of the five retailers, Sainsbury's had a two for £2.00 offer, Asda 50% extra free and Tesco had buy-one-get-one-free.

Huggies had offers across four retailers with its Pull-ups, Wipes and Little Walkers packs. Huggies Pull-ups used the save mechanic in Sainsbury's and buy-one-get-one-free in Tesco with both offers being of the same value overall.

J&J's Babycare range was found in two retailers with Asda favouring the x for y mechanic and Morrisons using buy-one-get-one-free.

The Imperial Leather range used the save mechanic in Asda with most offers working out to nearly a 50% saving. Palmolive's shower gel, foam bath and handwash were all promoted using the buy-one-get-one-free mechanic in both Morrisons and Sainsbury's.

When looking at the most consistent brands across this period, Always, Aquafresh, Dove, Durex and Pampers have been in the top ten at least four of the five weeks.

However, of these only Aquafresh, Durex and Pampers are featured in the top ten this week, with the other two brands not reaching the chart at all.

Aquafresh had offers in Tesco and Sainsbury's using the buy-one-get-one-free mechanic on both its Aquafresh Tooth & Tongue toothbrush and whitening toothpaste. Durex 12-pack and Durex Play 50ml also favoured the bogof mechanic with its offers in Sainsbury's.
