Pressure group Farm is marking the first anniversary of the supermarket code of practice with a consumer supermarket sticker campaign.
The farmers lobbying body has produced stickers for shoppers "to use to express concern" at the gap between farmgate and supermarket prices. The slogans incude: Who's creaming it? Farmer paid 9p a pint. Shopper pays?' and Who snatched the biggest slice? Farmer gets 7p a loaf. Shopper pays?'
Farm is urging shoppers to attach stickers to their till receipt and hand it back to the checkout operator to give to the manager. Farm national co-ordinator Robin Maynard said supermarkets were more likely to respond to pressure from consumers rather than from suppliers.
