What is your greatest challenge and how do you tackle it?

Customer service is our number one biggest challenge. I'm committed to providing excellent customer service. We aim to make sure that customers enjoy their shopping experience. We achieve this through teamwork.

What makes the store so successful?

The team's efforts and support. I'm proud of our team, we have a lot of experienced staff who are invaluable to the store. We're a community retailer. For example at Christmas we gave away decorations to a local school and we have certain community groups who come in to pack bags for us.

What do you do in your spare time?

I have three daughters whose ages range from five to 15, and they take up a lot of my time. I also enjoy football and support Glasgow Rangers and I enjoy playing golf in the summer when the weather is better.

What is the best thing about being a  store manager?

I enjoy the interaction between staff and customers. I class myself as being a people person and I like being on the shop floor with the customers and staff rather than in an office. I also like the daily challenge of making sure the store meets the customers' high standards and that staff are motivated. What are your plans for the store?

We're continuously looking at our ranges and last year had a couple of mini refits to add to our non-food section. We have very tentative plans to expand it even more this year but nothing is decided yet. We are a small store and there are bigger Morrisons nearby so extending non-food would mean our customers could get more from this store.

What has been your proudest moment in your career?

There isn't one particular thing I'm proud of. In each job there have been challenges that I've overcome. There are lots of different things each time you move store and with each store there's something to be proud of.
