The Village Shop in Charlton Horethorne, near Sherborne, Dorset, hit the headlines six years ago when a dedicated band of volunteers helped to run the shop so it could remain viable and continue to serve the village. New owners subsequently refurbished it and introduced a wide range of products and services. The store now provides a focal point within the village and, after being commended by the Village Retail Services Association (ViRSA) as an example of a thriving village shop, in May it was featured in a two-page colour article in The Times newspaper. Agent Christie & Co says there is scope for further expansion and development in the right hands. The three-bedroom owners' house has also been refurbished. Offers of £425,000 are invited for the freehold. {{PROPERTY }}
