One of the UK speciality brewing industry's best known figures, George Wortley, 52, managing director of St Peter's Brewery at Bungay, Suffolk, has left the company. Founder and chairman John Murphy confirmed he had asked Wortley to leave, and had taken charge of the company until a successor was found. He said: "I'll take three to six months getting to grips with it before drawing up a specification for the job." Wortley, who had been at St Peter's for seven years, was unavailable for comment. Last month he was presented with the award for the best new British product at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York and last December he received the Speciality Manufacturer of the Year award at the Food From Britain export awards presentation in London. {{PEOPLE MOVES }}
