A Bristol brewer has recalled bottles of one its beers as a manufacturing fault could cause the bottles to shatter.
Wiper and True has taken bottles of Mount Hood Porter batch 01 off sale and is advising anyone who has unopened bottles of the beer to dispose of them immediately. The 500ml bottles have a best before date of 5 March 2016.
The possibility of a fault was picked up two weeks ago, when a bottle shattered at an Oddbins store in London while the shop was closed. Other bottles from the batch were tested, and found to contain no issues, but following reports of two other incidents the company has taken the decision to recall the batch.
Wiper and True has published an advisory note on its website, advising anyone disposing of the bottles to “wear protective eye wear and gloves, dispose of the beer by placing any remaining unopened bottles in a securely closed box and immediately placing the box in a bin liner inside a closed rubbish bin”.
Consumers who bought the beer can contact the relevant retailer for a refund – no proof of purchase is necessary.
