Britvic is introducing the first Tango variant to be entirely free of added or naturally occurring sugars.

Tango Orange Sugar Free replaces a No Added Sugar (NAS) version that contained 5% orange fruit, with 100ml of the drink containing 0.4g sugar and three calories. Its main competitor, CCE’s Fanta Zero, has a similar profile.

The new flavour will be available from September in a 330ml can (rsp: 59p), 600ml PET bottle and price-marked pack version (rsp: 99p), two-litre PET (rsp: £1.99) and 6x330ml can pack (rsp: £3.19).

“Carbonates remains the number-one soft drink sector and is currently being driven by increasing consumer demand for lower-sugar options,” said Britvic GB marketing director Kevin McNair. “This is reflected by the 6.2% value growth of sugar-free fruit carbonates in the past year [Nielsen 52 w/e 9 May 2015].

“With orange being the most popular flavour choice in fruit carbonates, Tango Orange Sugar Free combines consumer taste preferences with a sugar-free variant that will further strengthen our carbonates position.”
