UK lettuce prices have risen 17.7% month on month due to reduced supply, with colder than normal temperatures delaying the progress of the 2015 crop. Year-on-year prices are also up 20.3% as a result of falling imports - down 33% year on year to 88,000 tonnes.

The colder temperatures this spring have also hit UK carrot supplies, causing prices to rise 19.9% month on month - with prices now 29.5% above this time last year. In Spain colder temperatures have delayed the Spanish capsicum crop and pushed UK prices down 41.6% month on month.

Meanwhile, UK onion prices have plummeted over 50% year on year as a result of increased imports from the Netherlands. EU onion production rose 4% year on year to six million tonnes last year, with prices hit by the Russian trade ban and strong supplies at the beginning of this year, although increased exports to third countries have helped support prices until now.
