Dr Oetker has expanded its range with its first folded pizza.
The Ristorante Calzone Speciale (rsp: £2.99) launched in Asda last week, with other listings due to follow this month. The folded pizza base is filled with mushroom, salami, ham, cheese and tomato sauce and sprinkled with herbs.
Dr Oetker said more than a fifth of its consumers bought six or more flavours from its range of 10, meaning it was important to continue to offer further options.
“As the UK’s leading thin and crispy pizza brand it’s essential we stay ahead of the category,” said senior brand manager Diane Spence. “Through our extensive consumer research we are able to constantly highlight ways to refresh our range to meet consumer demand.
“We’re confident Calzone will not only appeal to our existing customers but also tap a new audience looking for a delicious pizza with a difference.”
