Why: KP Snacks - acquired by German business Intersnack in 2013 - relaunched the Phileas Fogg brand last year with a bright new look and new flavours that embraced the international adventures of the brand’s namesake (protagonist of Jule’s Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days). In the case of this product, KP Snacks also embraced growing UK interest in Mexican food.

Consumer verdict: This KP Snacks product received above-average scores across the board. It was given a particularly high score by our testers for being new and different, while purchase intent rose 20 percentage points after trial. Testers said this was down to the product having a “surprisingly” nice taste and being “more-ish”. Almost three quarters of testers said the crisps would be equally ideal for chilling out or entertaining. No tester rejected the product outright.
