JJ Food Service has launched a customer review site to drive consumers into restaurants and takeaways.

Central Dish, which is now live, allows diners to search for the best meals in their local area based on dish-specific ratings. Orders can be placed directly through the platform.

More than 500 restaurants and takeaways have already signed up to the website and the wholesaler has invested £10m into marketing to drive consumers to the site.

The app is designed to be more honest than its competitors as it will not take sponsored listings and the review system will focus on individual dishes rather than the entire restaurant.

“Restaurants have told us how unfair review systems can be on other big takeaway sites,” said Central Dish CEO Rif Kiamil.

“Central Dish is the end of fake reviews, sponsored listings and images that don’t reflect what you get. Our fairer system puts the best food first. Central Dish will help independent restaurants and takeaways to increase their visibility online while driving traffic to their virtual doorstep. We are proud to say that it’s backed exclusively by JJ Food Service, cementing our position as leaders in technology within the foodservice sector.”

The platform is available free of charge to all takeaways and restaurants and each customer benefits from marketing support through Google, Facebook and Twitter.
