Sainsbury’s is gearing up to launch its TU clothing range online.

Both Tesco and Asda offer clothing over the internet, but Sainsbury’s is yet to take TU online.

This week, the retailer revealed this would happen within months. Responding to a query from a consumer on its Facebook site as to why its clothing was not available over the internet, a spokesman said: “I am sorry that you can’t get clothing online. We are looking to add this to our website in the coming months.”

Sainsbury’s presence in the clothing market is growing rapidly and its annual results last month revealed TU was the UK’s seventh-largest clothing brand by volume and sixth-largest childrenswear brand. Clothing continues to grow faster than its food business, and it posted record schoolwear sales last year - up 38% on the year.

It has also joined forces with TV fashion guru Gok Wan, who has designed four clothing collections under the Gok 4 TU range. Some items from the latest collection had sold out due to high demand, said the retailer.

  • So glad to hear you are going to be doing TU clothing online, especially Gok's range.
I live in a village and do not drive at the moment so therefore do a lot of online shopping and miss the tu range of clothes i used to be able to get in store.

  • ThIs would be fabulous. My local store carries only a small selection of TU clothing which sells fast and stocks do not seem to be replenished so I am often disappointed. The nearest superstore is two train journeys away! Internet shopping is my only hope here. I hope it happens very soon!

  • I too would love to shop the Tu range online. I shop at a very small Sainsbury's most days, but live too far away from a large store to shop for clothes. Please bring out your online service very soon.

  • Hi,
As my husband bought TU cord,s several year,s back, the time has come to hope to purchase these again.
For the last 2 winter season,s,we have enquired about these, but sadly told that no stock of this nature had arrived.
To have been able to trawl through a TU clothing site would have been so beneficial to us.
That there has not been such a site is so very sad when most High st supermarket,s have such availability, and are definately helpful to the consumer.
I now read that TU are in the process of setting up such a site.
Great new,s and not before time!
Is it possible that you can alert me when this happen,s?
    Yours Brenda.(Warrington)
