CCE says it has sold almost five million 250ml Coca-Cola cans since it launched them in July.

The slimline cans of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and Coke Zero have been rolled out to convenience retailers to offer an rsp of 49p compared with the 65p rsp of a 330ml can. “The pack was designed to appeal to those with less disposable income and sales have been exceptionally positive,” said CCE VP for sales & marketing Nick Canney.

Nielsen data for the 12 weeks to 28 September showed the 250ml cans had been one of the three top-performing cola packs in symbols and independent, he said.

PepsiCo introduced 250ml ‘stubby’ cans in the UK just over two years ago.
