Asda has announced the addition of two senior managers to its executive team.

Karen Hubbard, currently operations director for Asda’s supermarkets, takes on the new role of executive director of store proposition.

General counsel Ellie Doohan also joins the supermarket’s top leadership team. She already chairs the International Produce division that sources fresh produce for Asda and Walmart’s overseas businesses.

Hubbard recently oversaw the conversion of former Netto stores to the Asda fascia following its purchase of the discounter’s UK business. The conversions will be concluded in November.

“Any successful business needs to combine the right blend of skills and experience,” said chief executive Andy Clarke.

“These changes will put us in an even stronger position to realise our strategic business goals and fulfil the simple customer ambition we set for ourselves - to save people money every day.”

Meanwhile, Mark Hodgkinson – who formerly headed up Asda.com and the company’s homeware division, Asda Direct – is to join embattled entertainment retailer HMV as its new marketing and ecommerce director. He left Asda earlier this year.
