Tesco has extended its recommended cash offer for Dobbies Garden Centre for a second time.

The first closing date of the 1,500p a share offer, which Tesco tabled in June, was 18 July but this was extended to 8 August. However, this would now be extended until 19 August, the retailer said in a statement released this morning.

Tesco added that it now held a 32.6% stake in Dobbies and urged shareholders to accept the offer as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the Competition Commission has reportedly ordered Tesco to stop building a store on the site of a former Co-op store in Slough, Berkshire, while it investigates whether a second Tesco store in the town could restrict competition.
