Seafish review: The amount of fishmeal used in the UK reached 135,400 tonnes in 2010, 3.8% higher than the 130,400 tonnes consumed in 2009, according to Seafish’s 2012 review of fish stocks used for fishmeal and oil.

Delamere China deal: Delamere Dairy is to start supplying retailer City Shop in Shanghai with its UHT goats milk from May. It follows earlier listings for its fresh and UHT goats products with Asian retailers Dairy Farm and AS Watson in Hong Kong as well as Cold Storage in Singapore.

RPA opens for longer: From 21 April, the Rural Payments Agency customer service centre will be open between 9am and 3pm every Saturday until 12 May, as well as on Monday 7 May, which is a bank holiday, and Sunday 13. The extended opening hours are intended to assist farmers and food producers who have yet to submit their 2012 Single Payment Scheme applications.

Quality beef: The quality of British prime beef carcases was maintained last year, according to latest data from Eblex. AHDB data taken from a sample of just under 400,000 prime cattle across Great Britain last year showed that 49% met the ‘R4L or better’ target classification.

ACE to chill Edinburgh Salmon: ACE refrigeration has won a six-figure supply deal to provide refrigeration equipment to the Edinburgh Salmon Company’s new factory extension. ACE will begin work on the £170,000 extension on Monday.

More milk: UK milk production rose by 1.4% - 185.5 million litres - in the 2011/ 2012 milk year, according to provisional figures from the RPA. A mild winter, rising milk prices, early grass growth and an increase in calvings all contributed, according to DairyCo.
