Hardys

Sales: £307.1m Growth: -3.2%

It’s been a good year for Aussie wine, with the eight top 100 brands from Down Under up 3.5% to £841.8m combined.

The biggest, Hardys, is the exception, having lost £10.2m on volumes down 1.4% as drinkers trade up to pricier wines and own label continues to make gains in the category.

The past year’s performance is also a reflection of the £31.1m growth we reported a year ago.

Owner Accolade Wines says it will continue to invest heavily in Hardys’ sponsorship of England and Wales cricket, including its deal with Sky, and this year kicked the season off with the launch of Stuart Broad’s first ever cricket club.

Broad was used by the brand in other ways, helping to launch one million limited edition bottles in celebration of England’s 2015 Ashes success.
