Palcohol

Sir: I had to double-check that it wasn’t 1 April when I read the article ‘Just add water: powdered alcohol faces PR minefield’ (21 March). Ethyl alcohol C2H5OH is a liquid containing no solids either dissolved or undissolved in the same way that pure water H2O is, and unlike milk - which does contain various solids - when alcohol or water evaporates there are no solids left. So I am left wondering what is in or constitutes the so-called powdered alcohol. Presumably we can expect to see powdered water in supermarkets next?
