Rizwan Pervez has been named Bestway operations director

Rizwan Pervez has been named operations director of Bestway.

Pervez, who moves up from the role of marketing director with immediate effect, will be responsible for group operations across the wholesaler’s 63 depots as well as its symbol and retail clubs Best-one and Xtra Local and its Bestway Direct delivery operation.

He joined Bestway in 1995 and is the son of chairman Sir Anwar Pervez.

He replaces David Gilroy, who has left the wholesaler by mutual consent. Gilroy worked at Bestway for nine years. In November last year, Bestway said Gilroy would oversee group operations from 1 July.

“I am delighted that Rizwan has agreed to take on the role of operations director,” said Bestway MD Younus Sheikh.

“Having worked across many departments within the group, most recently as marketing director, he brings a wealth of experience to the role and has a total understanding of where we currently are as a business and where we are striving to get to in the future.”

Pervez added: “Operations is an area where you can see tangible results in a very short time and although challenging it is also very rewarding. Moreover, it is a role that will bring me into greater contact with depot managers and customers.

“I believe that by working together and learning from each other we can continue to build our customers’ and suppliers’ businesses,” he said.

Bestway also praised Gilroy for his “hard work and commitment to the company over the last nine years”.

Last month, Bestway acquired The Co-operative Pharmacy for £620m.
