Baking products supplier SD Parr has appointed Walkers Transport as its main haulier.
Walkers Transport will now be responsible for distributing the 2,000 pallets produced per year by the glacé cherry and fruit peel specialists.
“SD Parr is a well-established business and a key supplier to the majority of UK retailers. Almost everyone has had one of their cherries,” said Graham Short, principal at Walkers Transport.
“Winning this contract is great news for us and supports our growth plans to be the market leaders in the distribution of pallets in the North of England. Our collaboration will enable us to explore new markets in the food and drink industry.”
The contract between the haulier and the Yorkshire-based producer was secured after a competitive tender process. Walkers Transport has been operating in Manchester since 1979 and has been part of Europe’s largest express palletised freight network Palletways for 20 years.
