It's all change in the Promo Dynamic top 50 this week, as retailers shift their promotional tactics after the excesses of the Christmas holiday period. The biggest change is the steep drop in the number of featured space promotions, down to 1,689 this week from a peak of over 2,000 just before Christmas.

Seasonal treats have fallen furthest down the table as customers begin their January detox.

Confectionery slumped from 2nd in the table to 14th, as the total number of offers fell from 226 to 28. But supermarket promotion stalwart wine retains the top spot, with more than 200 offers.

One of the healthier alternatives sailing up the table was the yoghurt and fromage frais category, which jumped from 27th place to 12th, with 37 deals this week.

Müller was the most-promoted yoghurt brand, with 16 of the 37 offers. Nestlé was second, and health brand Activia third. Tesco had the most yoghurt and fromage frais deals, with 12 of the total.

Discounts were steep, with nearly two thirds of the yoghurt deals offering savings of 50% or more. Buying all 37 would cost £76.12, a 44% saving on the rsp of £134.74.

The best offer in the top 50 this week was on Airwick Luminair, which was reduced from £9.99 to £2.99 at Somerfield. The biggest cash saving, a huge £55, was on the half-price Oral B Sonic toothbrush at Waitrose. Somerfield had the most deals in the top 50.

Buying all of this week's top 50 deals would cost £213.44, a 49.5% saving on the £415.59 rsp.
