Thorntons marketing director Peter Wright has left the chocolate retailer following the completion of its strategic review this week, which will result in the closure of at least 120 stores.

Wright, who joined in August 2007, left on Friday "as a result of a split in his marketing and retail responsibilities", a spokesman for Thorntons said.

Prior to joining Thorntons, Wright held senior marketing positions at Tesco, including director for brand marketing, director for stores and non-food marketing, and marketing director for Tesco Ireland.
