Tesco is gearing up to sell a two and a half pound avocado, eight times larger than the standard fruit.
The retailer is stocking the South African avocado, which is grown naturally, and claims it is enough to feed a family of six.
A spokesman for Tesco said: “Few people will have seen an avocado pear as big as this. It’s the size of a watermelon.
“Pound for pound, it will cost approximately a third of the price of the equivalent number of normal sized avocados.”
