German discounter Aldi is lining up its largest UK store to date which will become the template for all future units.

The 19,000 sq ft store (13,498 sq ft sales), in Newbridge Hill, Louth, Lincolnshire, is scheduled to open in October.

Demolition of the old Malt Kiln building should be completed by the end of April.

Mark Taylor, property director, said the average size of Aldi’s stores was previously 16,500 sq ft, but the new larger size would enable the company to display its products in “a more consumer-friendly way”.

“Aldi is delighted to have been able to work closely with local community councillors to bring the first new supermarket to Louth in 20 years,” Taylor said.
